Leadership Opportunities

Alumni Executive Board

The Executive Board, composed of the officers of the Association, members-at-large, and ex-officio, non-voting members, serves as the governing body of all Winthrop alumni and oversees the transaction of association business. Officers fulfill a two-year term that begins July 1 and concludes June 30.

Alumni Representatives to the Board of Trustees

The Alumni Association elects two alumni to serve on the Winthrop Board of Trustees, which has responsibility for the mission and long-term benefit of the university.

Chapter Leaders

Chapter leaders collaborate with the Office of Alumni Relations to plan activities and events for regional alumni chapters that create opportunities for alumni to network and socialize.

Class Reunion Chairs

Class reunion chairs serve as the primary liaisons between a class and the university. Reunion chairs assist in planning reunion activities, recruiting class volunteers, encouraging participation among classmates in reunion events and communicating with classmates about the class gift.

Young Alumni Councils

Young Alumni Councils coordinate regional activities for young alumni including social events, networking opportunities, community service projects and mentorship of current students. Council members serve as volunteers for the alumni association and are a direct link between Graduates of the Last Decade (G.O.L.D.) and the university.  For more information or to volunteer with a Young Alumni Council, please e-mail Brittany Neely, campus relations coordinator, or call 803/323-3050.
