Winthrop Alumni Admissions Volunteer

A Winthrop Alumni Admissions Volunteer (W.A.A.V.) is a partnership between the Office of Admissions and the Winthrop Alumni Association. The program provides unique opportunities for alumni to give back to Winthrop. By participating in this program, you can make an impact on Winthrop and the next generation of Winthrop eagles.

W.A.A.V. invites dedicated alumni to assist with the recruitment of prospective students. There are two volunteer opportunities, college fairs and admitted student events, in which alumni can participate. Below you will find more details about these program opportunities:

  • College fairs: College fairs are held in various parts of the country. Representing Winthrop at a college fair is a great way to help educate and excite prospective students about what Winthrop has to offer. As a W.A.A.V. member, you will attend a fair that is close to your hometown and talk with prospective students and their families about Winthrop. College fairs are typically held August-December.
  • Admitted student events: The Office of Admissions hosts admitted students and their families at regional receptions around South Carolina. These receptions allow students to learn the next steps of the application process. Admission counselors provide information about financial aid, orientation and Worldwide Winthrop Day. We welcome W.A.A.V. members to share their Winthrop experience and answer any questions they may have about life on campus.
