Many MBA students do internships to gain professional experience or to make a career
change. Students desiring academic credit for an internship must meet a number of
requirements. BADM 694 is the MBA internship class and serves as an elective in the
MBA and MBA-Accounting programs. Students interested in the BADM 694 class should
discuss this option during advising.
Winthrop's Center for Career Development and Internships provides a number or career development resources including:
MBA students can visit another country to see first-hand how international business
is conducted. BADM 600 is the International Field Experience class, which is required
for MBA-International students, and an elective for MBA and MBA-Accounting.
Each May, students and faculty travel to New York City, NY to visit Wall Street and
learn first-hand how financial markets operate. This experience includes visits to
the New York Stock Exchange, the Federal Reserve, Merrill Lynch, and other prominent
financial influences.
The College of Business brings employers from major firms and government entities
to talk about career development, the job search process, what they are looking for
in employees, and how to obtain a position with their company. Through the career
series you will learn how to advance your career from experienced professionals, and
you will learn about possible internship and full-time career opportunities.
Each spring, the College of Business Student Professional Development conference provides workshops led by experienced professionals to help students gain an edge in finding jobs and futhering their careers.
