Start planning the adventure of a lifetime!

STEP 1:  Attend a Study Abroad Group Advising Session in Dinkins 217.

All Winthrop students who are interested in summer, semester or academic year study abroad or National Student Exchange are required to attend a Group Advising session.  Click here to sign up for a session.

STEP 2: Meet with the Study Abroad Coordinator to start planning.

After completing the group advising module, you will receive a link inviting you to book an advising appointment with the study abroad coordinator to discuss your academic and career goals related to study abroad. But that meeting is just the beginning of a planning process that usually takes at least one year before departure for summer, semester or year abroad programs.

  • Semester 1: Research programs and funding options. Discuss academic and financial plans with the study abroad coordinator, academic advisors, financial aid office, and family/friends.
  • Semester 2: Apply to Winthrop for approval to study abroad. Submit other applications required for the study abroad program and/or study abroad scholarships as needed.,
  • Summer or Semester 3: Study abroad!

Planning ahead is the best way to choose a study abroad program that fits your academic goals and budget. Let us help! If you have any questions, please contact the International Center at studyabroad@winthrop.edu.
