Notice to International F-1 Graduate Applicants:

Per U.S. immigration regulations, international students who study in the U.S. in F-1 status may enroll in one, 3-hour online course per semester to fulfill the full-time enrollment requirement. Some graduate degree programs require more than one online class per semester. The total number of online and hybrid classes is subject to change, and we cannot guarantee the number of online or hybrid classes a student will be required to take per semester. It is the student's responsibility to investigate degree requirements, specifically the schedule of required online and hybrid classes, before applying to a program. More information about visa status is available from our International Center's Student Visa and Immigration webpage

Documents Needed After Admission

Financial and Bank Statement: A completed Statement of Financial Responsibility and Affidavit of Support along with a bank letter/ bank statement showing access to the funds required for one year of studies at Winthrop University. Both forms must be no more than six months old at the time of registration. The completed forms must be submitted to the International Center.

Health Insurance and Proof of Immunization:  Because all medical and dental treatment in the USA is private and very expensive, it is very important that everyone has insurance.  Winthrop University requires all international students, and their dependents, to maintain health insurance.  All major universities have a similar requirement.  The Winthrop University Student Health Insurance Plan ("Health Plan") insures the student against major expenses accompanying an accident, illness or hospitalization. Information regarding purchasing insurance is available from Health Services and the International Center during the International Student Orientation.  All students are required to submit an immunization form, with complete immunization records, to Health Services. You can find more information about immunization requirements on the Center for Student Wellness' webpage. All on-campus students must satisfy all immunization requirements by the first day of classes or a non-refundable $50.00 Non-Compliance Fee will be applied to the student account.
