ASC Tutor Application

Thank you for your interest in joining the ASC!

Tutoring is a great way to help your fellow Winthrop students while also furthering your own content understanding, developing your leadership skills, and gaining valuable professional experience.

ASC tutors are all academically successful themselves and have earned A's or B's in the courses that they tutor. But they're also here because they want to help other students!

To qualify for a Peer Tutoring position, you must:

  • Hold a minimum 3.0 overall GPA.
  • Have received an A or B in each course you want to tutor.
  • Have completed at least one semester of classes at Winthrop.
  • Seek a recommendation in each course you want to tutor.

Steps to becoming an ASC tutor

  1. Fill out the application below.
  2. Request recommendation(s) from faculty member(s) in your content area using the online form linked at the bottom of this page.
    • If you would like to tutor in more than one area (for example, chemistry and psychology), you need a recommendation from a faculty member in each of those areas.
  3. Meet with a member of the ASC staff for an interview.
  4. If offered a position, enroll in LEAD 120F to complete our tutor training during your first semester of tutoring.
