    Bridging the Legacy of Slavery: A Conversation Between Brattonsville's Black & White Descendants

    Members of the panel will include representatives from different racial backgrounds who are descendants of people who lived on the Bratton plantation in the 19th century.  They will discuss how their shared geographical location has influenced their current understandings of the past.  They will also share their reasons for becoming involved in this project, how they have contributed to the work of Brattonsville, the ways the work has been both challenging and rewarding, and how reconciliation is occurring.

    By Way of the Back Door: Their Voices, Their Stories

    This panel will consist of two Brattonsville descendants, Ms. Margaret Crawford Parson-Willins and Mr. Wali Cathcart, whose ancestors were enslaved at Brattonsville. Throughout the Civil Rights Movement of the 1960s both panelists played a role in the fight for racial and social injustices locally and nationally. This event highlights their trajectory as descendants of the enslaved and how their heritage played a role in their social justice activism.

    Finally Got the News: Film Presentation and Discussion

    Finally Got the News was created as an advertisement during the twilight years of The League of Revolutionary Black Workers. Its members were influenced and further drove the field of black power during the late 60s and early 70s. The film not only shows a comprehensive picture of the organization, but is a cohesive statement of the organization's beliefs and goals.
