Kayla Thomas & Bobbie Owen- Rising Star Award Sociology Merit Scholarship2021

The rising star award is given to a student with academic excellence and demonstrated potential for future research based on performance in Stats and/or Theory. It is a signal of the department’s collective faith your abilities and promise for achieving excellence in the undergraduate program.  It comes with a $200 award.

 

Taylor Sandifer - C. Jack Tucker Undergraduate Research Award2021

The C. Jack Tucker award is given to a student who has truly got the research bug and has developed an outstanding research project in Qualitative or Quantitative research methods. It was our first research award and is our most prestigious. It comes with a $250 award. 

 

Rocky Skubisz - Maiolo Travel Award2021

The Maiolo award is given to select students presenting their research at professional conferences. These students have developed strong research projects that were competitively selected for presentation. It comes with a $250 award (to be split if more than one awardee)

 

Kate Watford-Nominated for the Inez Bell Caskey Award! Kate Watford (recipient still TBD by the College of Arts and Sciences)-2020

The Caskey Awards are given each year in three categories: Humanities and Arts; Social Sciences; and Science and Mathematics. Award recipients are selected by a faculty committee in a highly competitive process. Winners are chosen based on the quality of their scholarship and the significance of the work to the students' disciplines.  It comes with an (unspecified) cash award.
