Students working in the lab

The Geospatial Environmental Modeling (GEM) Lab is an advanced spatial analysis, remote sensing, and environmental modeling computer lab. The lab was established in 2023 and serves as an undergraduate teaching and research facility. GEM Lab is managed by Dr. Lauren Kohut. 

GEM houses four high-performance workstations equipped with GIS, remote sensing, and photogrammetry software.

Lab Access

The lab is available to Winthrop faculty, students, and research staff by permission. For questions or to request access, please contact Dr. Kohut.

4 Dell Precision 7920 towers with Intel® Xeon® Silver 4208 processors, AMD Radeon™ W6600 GPUs, and 64 GBs of memory. Each workstation is equipped with dual 24" monitors.
