Although none of these groups are directly affiliated with the Environmental program, students might be interested in participating in one ore more of the following organizations.


Campus Organizations

Conservation and Environmental Professions Connection (CEPC)

The Conservation and Environmental Professions Connection (CEPC) is a hub for information, resources, and opportunities for students planning to pursue careers in conservation and environmental fields. CEPC operates as a Blackboard organization and is open to all Environmental Science and Environmental Studies majors. Members can explore a library of career resources, receive announcements about job, internship, and research opportunities, and get answers to their questions in the forums. Student Environmental Action Coalition (SEAC)

SEAC is a student and youth-run national networks of progressive organizations and individuals whose aim is to uproot environmental injustices through action and education. We work to educate our Winthrop community about environmental and sustainability issues. Through awareness, we aim to make positive changes in regards to sustainability on our campus. Winthrop Outdoor Adventure Club (WOAC)

The Winthrop Outdoor Adventure Club (WOAC) was founded in 2006 to bring individuals interested in outdoor activities together. WOAC provides a diverse environment for individuals to safely learn and explore the outdoors in activities including whitewater rafting and kayaking, rock climbing, hiking and camping, mountain biking, and skiing and snowboarding. WOAC is also committed to the surrounding communities through local projects to better the places in which we play.


Community Organizations

Rock Hill Clean and Green

Rock Hill Clean & Green is a city-sponsored organization consisting of an 15-member all-volunteer board appointed by City Council. Clean & Green was certified as a Keep America Beautiful affiliate in 1987 and since has won numerous awards at the state and national levels for its activities, including a first place national award for its environmental education programs. The organization regularly offers volunteer opportunities.

Sierra Club

Founded on July 1, 1978, the South Carolina Chapter Sierra Club is state's largest grassroots environmental organization with over 40,000 members and supporters across South Carolina. In addition to leading outdoor adventures in all parts of the state, the South Carolina Sierra Club works to safeguard the health of our communities, protect wildlife, and preserve our remaining wild places through grassroots activism, public education, lobbying and litigation.
