Scholarships & Awards

Superior achievement by students is recognized and rewarded at Winthrop University.

  • The Ellen Rasor Wylie Mathematics Scholarship is awarded each year to mathematics majors who show superior academic merit and character.
  • The Betty Freeman Hinman Endowed Scholarship is preferentially awarded to female students of at least junior standing who similarly demonstrate academic excellence.
  • The Theresa Pittman Jackson Memorial Fund is also used to provide academic support and enrichment opportunities to students within the Department of Mathematics.

A student may apply for these scholarships as well as other forms of financial aid through Winthrop's Financial Resource Center.

Upperclass mathematics majors with superior grades are invited to join the South Carolina Gamma Chapter of Kappa Mu Epsilon, a national mathematics honorary society. The society is one of several organizations on campus in which students with common academic interests may get to know one another.

Math majors may also be eligible for other scholarships in the College of Arts and Sciences.  Visit Student Services for detailed information about CAS scholarships.
