Margaret Elizabeth Gamble

Ms. Gamble graduated from Winthrop College in 1967. She received her Master's degree from Winthrop in 1971. She taught physical education in Lancaster Schools. In addition to teaching physical education ,she was a bus driver training instructor for the South Carolina Department of Education, Guidance Counselor, and Assistant Principal at Andrew Jackson High School, Assistant Principal at Lancaster High School, and Principal at Heath Springs Elementary School. Ms. Gamble has served on accreditation teams, various committees and with education groups. She is very active as a Winthrop Alum.

While serving as principal at Heath Springs, the school was twice recognized with the School Incentive Award for improving test scores. In addition, Ms. Gamble recruited 30 business partners for the school and was the first school in Lancaster County to have a local area network of computers in each classroom.

In retirement , Ms. Gamble continues to maintain a busy schedule. She serves on the Dreher High School Foundation Board of Directors, Secretary of Lancaster Retired Educators Association, and President-elect of the United Way of Lancaster County, in addition to her work as the Reunion Chair for Winthrop Class of 1967.
