Dr. Mize is an Associate Professor in Education Core and Special Education in the Richard W. Riley College of Education, Sport, and Human Sciences at Winthrop University. Her main areas of research focus on technology-assisted reading interventions for students with learning disabilities and difficulties as well as self-efficacy of teacher candidates in an inclusive classroom setting. She previously worked in the inclusive classroom setting in a public elementary school as a full-time teacher for five years and also worked as a Clinical Faculty for three years before coming to Winthrop. Dr. Mize has over 20 publications in peer-reviewed journals in recent years and enjoys bringing her knowledge of the latest educational research into her classroom. As a researcher, she has conducted several research studies for students with learning disabilities and difficulties as well as students with autism spectrum disorders to help them improve their knowledge and skills in reading, writing, and mathematics. She has served as a co-chair of Leadership Development Committee of Council for Learning Disabilities (CLD) and a Consulting Editor for Learning Disability Quarterly (LDQ). Dr. Mize holds a Ph.D. in Special Education from the University of Texas at Austin and a M.Ed. and B.Ed. from Seoul National University of Education in Seoul, South Korea. In her free time, Dr. Mize loves cooking, writing, traveling, and spending time with her husband and their fur baby, Timmy.
