The Master of Science in Athletic Training prepares students to take the Board of Certification exam and obtain employment in athletic training settings.

Graduate study in counseling and development leads to a Master of Education degree in either clinical mental health or school counseling. The Master of Education degree in counseling and development requires completion of at least 60 semester hours of approved graduate-level work.

Graduate study in educational leadership leads to a Master of Education (M.Ed.) or Educational Specialist (Ed.S.) degree in educational leadership. The M.Ed. program prepares graduate candidates to work as elementary and secondary school principals. The Ed.S. is designed to develop school district leaders who are interested in becoming superintendents, central office administrators, program directors, and leaders in curriculum and instruction.

The M.Ed. in Learning Design and Technology emphasizes the study and application of learning theory and technology skills that can be applied to learning problems in a wide range of settings. Graduates will be able to design, develop, implement and evaluate small and large scale learning and technology initiatives and learn to design, develop and implement instructional materials and learning environments in face-to-face classes, online classes, or blended/hybrid learning environments. Graduates can seek employment as technology specialists, instructional designers, e-learning specialists and more.

The Master or Arts in Teaching (M.A.T.) is designed to prepare individuals who are seeking initial certification to be a classroom teacher. Areas of licensure include biology, English, chemistry, mathematics, or social studies at the high school level; art, French, music, physical education, special education or Spanish at the K-12 level; elementary or early childhood education; or English, mathematics, social studies, or science at the middle level.
This full-time degree program allows students who completed the Educational Studies Minor or Major as an undergraduate at Winthrop to earn a Master's degree and teaching certification in one year (three semesters). Graduates of this program will meet South Carolina course requirements for certification as a teacher in one of the following certification areas: art, biology, chemistry, dance, early childhood education, elementary education, English, French, math, middle level education, social studies, special education, theatre, or Spanish. To apply for the M.A.T. One-Year Option your undergraduate degree must have been earned within one year of beginning the M.A.T. One-Year Option program.
The M.Ed. in Special Education Intervention degree is a 30-credit, 100% online program that builds educators’ skills in culturally responsive, systematic, and research-validated data-based decision-making to support every student within the school setting. This program teaches school-based interventionists how to:
Improve academic and behavioral programs, support, and services based on knowledge of intervention and standards-based core curricula.
Apply valid and reliable assessment practices that inform instruction and curricula.
Facilitate improvement in the systems-level delivery of core and intervention curricula.

The Master of Science in Sport and Fitness Administration provides advanced degree seeking students with a quality sport and fitness administration education. The program prepares students to assume leadership positions in various sport and fitness venues in both facility and personnel management and program development. Graduates are prepared to direct sport and fitness programs in the private and public sectors. The program consists of core courses that provide students with a background in administration, research design and analysis, and current issues and trends in sport and fitness.
