Dr. Rivera is an assistant professor of Athletic Training and the clinical education coordinator for the program. Prior to joining Winthrop faculty, she was a clinical athletic trainer for Winthrop University for four years and at Youngstown State University for three years prior. While at YSU, she developed the program development plan and curriculum for the new Master of Athletic Training program. She also served as the mental health liaison for Winthrop Athletics, assisting student-athletes to seek resources and professional help for mental health issues. Dr. Rivera's research focuses on mental health education and awareness and cultural competency. In her free time, Dr. Rivera enjoys exploring the area with her husband and three dogs.
